Introduction to FUNSUN UV Printer's Ball Printing Function
You might not expect it, but our UV printers can print on ball-shaped items in addition to various flat objects—though our molds are required.
Working Principle of Ball Molds
Let’s first explain why we need this mold. Primarily, when printing a large quantity of the same item, it helps arrange the objects more conveniently and quickly. Using a mold also fixes the printing position better, preventing the items from rolling during the process. Once we layout the printing patterns on the computer at one time, we can directly start printing, significantly improving efficiency.
When printing on ball-shaped items, due to the large surface curvature, we must first confirm the printable area on the object’s surface. During printing, the vertical distance between the machine’s nozzle and the highest point of the printable area must be controlled within 3 mm. If this range is exceeded, the distance between the nozzle and the spherical surface will increase with the curvature. Excessive distance will cause ink dispersion, leading to blurred printed patterns.
Demonstration: Printing on a Table Tennis Ball
We have three UV printer models—A3 (3050), A2 (4060), and A1 (6090)—all capable of printing on ball-shaped items.
Place the mold on the printer platform, which quickly fixes the ball onto the printing platform.
Lower the printing platform to ensure the item does not rub against the print nozzle. The optimal height between the nozzle and the item should be around 2–3 mm.
Measure the spacing between the circles of the mold.
After the computer completes the layout based on the measured data, printing can start directly.
The machine uses a configuration of white ink, color ink, and varnish, producing patterns with vibrant colors and high clarity. It can accurately present designs even on curved surfaces like table tennis balls and golf balls.
